Andrew Tan’s Emperador Inc. officially started distribution of the iconic Fundador Brandy in March 1, 2016 which it said ushers in a new era for the company.

“A new era begins for Emperador in 2016. It now has a much bigger product portfolio of brandy and whisky that have greater global reach,” the company said in its annual report.

Emperador completed its acquisition of Spain’s oldest and largest brandy maker, Fundador, from Beam Suntory for 275 million euros on February 29, 2016.

Fundador used to be distributed by a subsidiary of Lucio Co’s Cosco Capital, Meritus Prime Distributions Inc., and was a big part of its liquor business.

In its presentation to investors, Cosco Capital said more than three-fifths of its liquor sales represent brandy sales. Sales of other spirits accounted for about a fifth as dis sales of wines and other specialty beverages.

Meritus Prime distributed Fundador brandy and JB/Grants whisky. Montosco Inc., another subsidiary, sells Alfonso, Alfonso light, Exelente, and Carlos brandy.

Montosco also sells Tequila Patron and Johnnie Walker.

The company under Cosco Capital’s liquor segment is Premier Wine & Spirits Inc. which sells Tequila Cuervo, Bacardi Rhum, Bushmills whiskies, and Chivas, as well as cognac, vodka and other liquors. (By: Eileen A. Mencias)
