Cebu wants share of carabao cheese market
The provincial government of Cebu is supporting a women’s group in Barangay Lupa, Compostela town which is making cheese products from fresh carabao’s milk with P10 million worth of assistance.
To meet the demand for carabao cheese, the Cebu government is planning to increase the group’s 12 carabaos to 37 and to give them training in processing, handling and marketing.
Based on the provincial government’s plan, a processing plant would be established along the national highway and a stopover shop for buses and private vehicles will be set up as a showroom of different products made of carabao milk.
The plan would be the first “multiplier farm” in Cebu.
The provincial government is expecting a good agro-tourism potential in the project.
