Has NFA administrator Renan Dalisay resigned?
National Food Authority administrator Renan Dalisay said goodbye to the National Food Authority on his facebook page, with many from the agency expressing their gratitude and appreciation for his leadership in such a short time.
Dalisay joined the NFA in November 2014 who was recruited to the post by former Senator Francis Pangilinan upon assuming the post of Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization.
Dalisay was Pangilinan’s chief of staff in the senate. Dalisay and Pangilinan have known each other during their student council days in the University of the Philippines in Diliman.
Dalisay did not provide any reason for his departure from the NFA but assuming that he would be joining Pangilinan sometime soon would be a safe bet.
One of his last acts as NFA administrator was to stop the auction of rice imported in 2014 this month to prevent the fall in prices and protect farmers who are beginning to harvest their crops and pushing for the appointment of a farmer to the NFA Council which is composed mainly of government officials who are acting ex-officio.
Among his initiatives was the foodguardian campaign that urged the public to avoid wasting rice for which he tapped several popular celebrities including Ann Curtis and Alden Richards, folk singer Noel Cabangon, and the band Parokya ni Edgar. (Eileen A. Mencias)
