‘La Paz Batchoy for a Cause’ helps poor kids in Bohol, Cebu
Iloilo’s pride, the La Paz Batchoy, was served up during a fundraising activity in Canberra, Australia last Sept. 10 called “La Paz Batchoy for a Cause” for 100 disadvantaged children in Bohol and Cebu.
The Shepherd Arms Children’s Home treated participants in the fundraising activity to La Paz Batchoy.
The Home takes care of disadvantaged children including those who are orphaned, abandoned and physically abused. One of their wards is now a teacher giving back to her community while three more are in college.
Philippine Ambassador to Australia Minda Calaguian-Cruz encouraged the Fil-Australian community to help the vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the Philippines.
She also said the fundraising event celebrates the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Australia this year.
