P150M high-tech agri lab to rise in Davao City
A P150-million agricultural laboratory will rise in Davao City next year.
The Philippine News Agency reported that the Department of Agriculture decided to set up the Southern Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Laboratory to harmonize agricultural laboratories and ensure quality of agricultural products.
Of the total amount, P100 million was allocated for the building and P50 million for laboratory paraphernalia.
Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the laboratory is part of his department’s thrust to strengthen the high value crops industry.
Piñol said the laboratory will handle plant disease, animal disease, water and soil analysis. He said the lab will hopefully help resolve the problems of fusarium wilt and cocolisap.
He hopes the project will be completed in the next two years.
