Piñol rolls up his sleeves at the DA
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said he is buckling down to work following his confirmation at the Commission on Appointments (CA) Wednesday.
“Now that I am no longer an “endo” Secretary of Agriculture, a lot is expected from me and the Department of Agriculture,” Piñol said.
He said he will do his best, not only to be worthy of President Duterte’s trust, but “mainly because the Filipino farmers and fisher folks and the Filipino people who depend on the food they produce are expecting so much from President Rody Duterte and the DA.”
Piñol said it was a “strange twist” that Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Ramirez-Sato, the same lawmaker who asked for the deferment of his confirmation last Dec. 13, was the same one who moved for his confirmation.
He said his appearance took only five minutes and he did not even say a word.
He said he was also touched by the support of senators and congressmen at the CA.
