Rustan’s special offer on salmon steak, cream dory, chicken leg & pork steak

Some people perceive Rustan’s Supermarket to be among the pricier groceries around but it doesn’t deserve it.

It actually comes up with very reasonably priced goods. When they put some items on special offer, you can actually get great bargains.

From February 3 to 12, it has several buy-1kilo-take-500grams offer: the Norwegian salmon steaks, chicken leg quarters, and pork steak.

The best steal is the cream dory which is on buy-1 kilo-take-1 kilo for only P239. Effectively, one kilo of cream dory goes down to just P117, that’s cheaper than the prevailing wet market price for bangus and galunggong in Metro Manila that is both at P140 per kilo. Mind you, that P140 per kilo of bangus and galunggong still needs to be cleaned of its guts and gills and scaled. The cream dory, on the other hand, is already skinned and deboned which means it is actually even cheaper than the tilapia that averages at P100 per kilo in wet markets.

The buy-1-take-500 offer on the Norwegian salmon steak is at P775 per kilo which boils down to just P517 a kilo.

The chicken leg quarters at P198 per kilo with a free 500 gram offer means the chicken leg quarters are just P132 a kilo. It’s cheaper than the prevailing wet market price of dressed chicken in Metro Manila which averages at P140 a kilo. Rustan’s Supermarket limit the chicken leg quarter promo purchase to just three kilos per customer.

The buy 1 kilo-take 500 grams offer on the pork steak is at P329 a kilo that boils down to about P219 per kilo. It’s not that great a deal since wet market prices on pork kasim is at P190 per kilo and pork liempo prices are at P210 per kilo.
