Recipes: Smoked fish & spinach tart, mustardy mackerel & white beans, and smoked fish ‘pate’
Some people connect with their neighbours over social media. We talk to ours the old-fashioned way – over the fence, on the street, and on the deck with a few beersies.
Really knowing your neighbours means you’re more likely to be the recipient of local gossip, useful street intel and – in our case, because we have the best neighbours in Wellington – beautiful smoked trout. That’s my definition of stronger communities together. If your neighbours are nice, but not prone to fishing, you could always make them one of these smoky fish dishes and foster a beautiful friendship instead.
You can make this without a rectangular tart tin, but I recommend investing in one. Not only will it make this delicious tart look beautiful, you’ll also be able to make Dean Brettschneider’s superlative chocolate praline tart from his 2014 book, Pie. But I digress. Smoked warehou or hoki is great in this tart.
