DA’s back-to-back trade fair opens tomorrow
The Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is set to hold its back-to-back trade fair consisting of BFAR FISHtival and Fisheries Production and Post-Harvest Equipment Showcase starting tomorrow.
The showcase is designed to bring together the industry’s experts and leading suppliers of cutting-edge post-harvest equipment.
The event will also serve as a display window where fisherfolk cooperatives and fisheries industry-based entrepreneurs can find state-of-the-art technologies, products and services appropriate to their needs in just one location.
Simultaneous with the opening ceremony of the equipment showcase is the official launching of DA-BFAR’s Comprehensive Post-Harvest, Marketing and Ancillary Industry Plan (CPHMAIP) for 2018 to 2022.
The plan will harness existing government initiatives such as the establishment of Community Fish Landing Centers in strategic coastal communities around the country and reinforce the agency’s undertakings on giving timely and relevant technical assistance on post-harvest and marketing with the goal to reduce post-harvest losses, and in turn, alleviate poverty in the coastal communities.
