Wales pub challenges customers to lock up their phones to get discounts
The connections brought on by social media comes with a price. While we are amazed at how connected we are with the people who are farthest from us, we lose touch with the people who are right before us, sitting with us and spending time with us.
The Fat Boar, a pub in Wales noticed this among their customers who can’t seem to tear themselves away from their devices and offered an incentive for those who can go the full course of a dinner while focusing on their companions, instead of their social media accounts.
The pub is challenging their customers to lock up their phones in a blue box which they cannot open until the bill is paid. If the customers make through the entire dinner without giving in to temptation and opening the box, they can get as much as 25% discount on their bill.
The promo is called “Mobile Free Mondays” and is available every Monday, but this could be a very good idea that can even be copied in homes all over the world if only to have that genuine quality time come mealtimes. Cool idea, huh? (ANGEL ONG)
