Batangas assures proper implementation of corn sufficiency program
The city government of Batangas assured its farmers of the proper and continuous implementation of its yellow corn sufficiency program, which provides free seed distribution.
Philippine News Agency (PNA) wrote that Batangas City Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha recently told Batangas City Corn Growers Association, Inc. (BCCGA) that the city is dedicated on helping the farmers gain more income.
She also said the government is keen on taking advantage of the growing demand for yellow corn.
For her part, Avelita Rosales, a Department of Agriculture (DA) regional coordinator, said in the PNA report that corn growers in the province must work harder to increase their production to meet the demands of the feedmills in the province.
She then lauded the efforts of the city government and its agriculture office for being the lone local government unit (LGU) that has achieved sustainable yellow corn farming in the region.
