Israeli firms confident on agri investments in PH
The Israeli firms, who will be funding separate irrigation projects in the Philippines, is confident that the Department of Agriculture (DA) is on the right track in terms of programs and priorities.
In a Facebook post, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said Israeli agriculture experts who assessed the state of agriculture in the Philippines recently have declared that the priority programs of the DA are on the right direction guided by a correct vision.
“You have the correct vision and you are on the right direction but you need to invest more to achieve your targets,” Avi Elkayam, Tel Aviv-based official of the LR Group, one of Israel’s biggest agro-industrial companies, told officials of the DA on Thursday in Llanera, Nueva Ecija.
Piñol said Elkayam and two other Israelis, Ilan Weiss and Gallit Tamir, visited parts of the country last week following a business forum organized by the Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Among the priorities of the DA under this administration are Small and Sustainable Irrigation Projects, specifically Solar Powered irrigation Systems (SPIS); construction of Farm-to-Market Road Program; building Post-Harvest Facilities; setting up Logistics and Transport Facilities; and the provision of Easy Access Credit Program.
