San Fernando holds first successful Refill Revolution for 2019
Kapampangans successfully held their first successful Refill Revolution of the year as it set up shop at the Sto. Rosario Basketball Court at the Old Public Market in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Spearheaded by the Environment Management Bureau (EMB) with the support of the CENRO, the CSFP-City Environmental and Natural Resource Office organized the event and encouraged the public to bring their own containers to avail of commodities like soap, fabric conditioner, soy sauce, vinegar, and water.
They also urged customers to bring old containers of biscuits, reusable food boxes, ice cream, paper bags and eco bags for their purchases of dry goods like sugar, rice, detergent powders and other snack items.
They were very strict however, in barring the use of dirty bottles and containers as well as those that are missing their covers.
The event seeks to sell the goods at a lower price, resulting in savings for the customers and at the same time seeks to minimize waste from packaging as the patrons bring their own container from their own recyclables.
Netizens have lauded the project and said that other cities and municipalities should follow San Fernando’s example as this will make a lot of difference in the drive for zero waste. (ANGEL ONG)
