Feed the needy this Lent, Cardinal Tagle tells the faithful
As Lent is a time for repentance and acts of charity, Manila Archbishop Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle is calling on the faithful to live out the spirit of the season by feeding the needy, reported CBCP News.
In his message, he called on the faithful to support the Fast2Feed program, also known Pondo ng Pinoy’s Hapag-Asa Integrated Nutrition Program to aid needy children with proper nutrition. According to the cardinal, three out of ten children are now suffering from stunting and poor mental development because of malnutrition and this was why the program was created in the first place.
The program, which has fed over 2 million children since its inception, is seeking not only to conduct more feeding programs but also values education and livelihood training to sustain the gains of the project.
“It takes only P1,200 for six months or P10 per day to nourish a hungry and undernourished child,” Tagle reminded the faithful.
