The World Food Programme mourned the loss of seven colleagues who were among the casualties of the Ethiopian Airlines crash.
Among the victims of the tragedy were Ekta Adhikari from Nepal; Maria Pilar Buzzetti and Virginia Chimenti from Italy; Harina Hafitz from Indonesia; Zhen-Zhen Huang from China; Michael Ryan from Ireland and Djordje Vdovic from Serbia. Most of the WFP staff were assigned to Rome. Victor Tsang, a former WFP staff who has UN Environment Programme was also among those who perished in the crash.
“As we confront this terrible loss, we reflect that all these WFP colleagues were willing to travel and work far from their homes and loved ones to help make the world a better place to live in. That was their calling, as it is for the rest of the WFP family,” the WFP shared in a statement.
The organization also shared their condolences with other affiliate agencies whose personnel were also on board the flight. (ANGEL ONG)
