DA turns over solar powered irrigation in Sultan Kudarat
The Department of Agriculture (DA) has turned over another unit of Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) to a town in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the SPIS, which costs P5.3 million to build and took three months to build, could irrigate up to 60 hectares of land.
Farmer leader Rustom Catalan said with the SPIS, they could now plant three times a year. They will also save at least P100,000 per cropping on diesel fuel expenses.
The SPIS unit will be beneficial to rice farmers of Barangay D’Lotilla and nearby areas.
