PH to launch first locally manufactured tire brand in two weeks
The first farmer-owned motorcycle tires brand, Pilipinas Agila Tires, will be launched by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on April 26.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the launch will mark the start of a nationwide marketing program that aims to offer the 300×17 motorcycle tires for utility motorcycles at competitive prices.
The natural rubber component of the Pilipinas Agila motorcycle tires use 100 percent local rubber to be bought from Filipino farmers.
Motorcycle tire dealers from all over the country will be invited to join the launch and will be asked to support the country’s farmers by promoting the Pilipinas Agila motorcycle tires.
The Pilipias Agila Tires is a product of the Philippine Rubber Farmers Cooperative (PRFC), which was organized by the DA two years ago as part of the program to elevate farmers to the level of processors.
The cooperative received a P10-million loan from the DA to start the tire manufacturing business.
