Customers ask fastfood giants to become more sustainable
Fastfood franchises are constantly being engaged by their customers to shift to more sustainable practices and their loyal patrons are quite happy when their suggestions are welcomed by their favorite fastfoods.
This particular suggestion by zero waste advocate Nelle Mariano PM’d Jollibee’s customer service messenger that Jollibee should consider using plates with partitions for dine in customers so that they would not need to use disposable gravy or ketchup containers.
Jollibee responded positively to the suggestion and promised that the suggestion will be discussed with the team.
Meanwhile, Cebuanos are also doing their part to get their local McDonald’s branches to prioritize sustainability and handed out open letters signed by 212 petitioners about their campaign. According to the group, branch managers seemed very receptive of their ideas so they are hoping that their suggestions will be adopted.
Among their suggestions in their campaign are: Limit use of packaging to takeouts , allow customers to bring their own containers, use of reusable and washable containers and cutleries for Dine-ins and finally use of 100% Biodegradable and Ethically-sourced packaging. Their petition can be found on Bataris and is now signed by 615 people. (ANGEL ONG)
