DA to address issues on ‘fake vinegar’
The Department of Agriculture (DA) said it will address reports that “fake” vinegar products using the synthetic Acetic Acid are now being sold around the country.
This, after a news report quoted a study allegedly made by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) that several vinegar brands tested in the Philippines were made from “synthetic” sources, not from natural sources.
The report then called these brands “fake” and adulterated vinegar.
“And they are dangerous to peoples’ health,” the report further said.
The DA is set to meet today with Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Trade and Industry to address the issue.
