DAR eyes complete land distribution by 2022
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is targeting to complete the land acquisition and distribution (LAD) component of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) by 2022.
In a statement, Agrarian Reform Secretary John R. Castriciones said he is optimistic that such goal will be met even if it sounds like a “tall order”.
Right now, there is over 600,000 hectares of land still to be covered under the CARP.
To accomplish President Rodrigro Roa Duterte’s new challenge, dubbed LAD Free 2022, Castriciones directed all its regional and local officials to forge a systematic and formidable plan.
“There are three things that the administration of President Duterte wants us to accomplish. First is the distribution of government-owned lands as mandated under Executive Order No. 75, second, the parcellation of collective CLOAs, and most of all, ensuring that the country is LAD Free by 2022,” Castriciones said.
However, if the DAR is armed with a well-coordinated strategy, it would not be an “impossible mission,” he added.
