NFA conducts training on food labeling requirements for PH, US
The National Food Authority (NFA), through the Food Development Center (FDC), will conduct a training course on “Food Labeling Requirements for the United States and the Philippines” in July.
This training course is meant to upgrade the understanding of participants on the general food labeling requirements of the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (PhilFDA) for pre-packaged foods.
Participants will also learn the labeling requirements for nutrient content and health claims as well as how to draft a product label and the nutrition information on the label based on USFDA and PhilFDA food labeling requirements.
The training course consists of six lectures for six hours and four practical exercises for 18 hours.
The practical exercises will illustrate USFDA and PhilFDA basic requirements for the evaluation of the mandatory labeling information of prepackaged food and the preparation of a nutrition label.
