E-magsasaka offers platform to connect farmers directly to buyers
An online platform is now available to connect local farmers to stakeholders and give them an avenue to sell their goods at a reasonable price.
The platform developed by the team of Gorby Dimalanta (business development), Aaron David (operations) and EJ Tamayao (web development) provides a structure wherein partner farmers can simply log on to their account and update their inventory and pricing, which can be viewed by institutional buyers who purchase from the platform.
E-magsasaka coordinates with the farmers who send their produce to partner cooperatives. The cooperatives check for quality and proceed with the packing. The cycle continues when E-Magsasaka picks up the goods and delivers it to Institutional Buyers.
“Our farmers are getting old and agriculture does not appeal lucrative to the youth. Hopefully, through our solution, we would be able to attract them or bring them back in case they left and pursued other types of profession in the urban areas. Finally, we also like to encourage the YOU to venture into agribusiness. After all, we won’t be where we are right now without our farmers toiling and laboring to ensure that there is food on our table,” the initiators said on their Facebok page.
This is using innovation for the greater good. More power to this young team and their vision. (ANGEL ONG)
