Online petition under way to remove GrabFood Cancel Order option
An online petition on change.org is currently gaining steam to remove the cancel option for GrabFood deliveries. This comes amid viral stories showing inconsiderate customers cancelling their orders after GrabFood drivers already confirmed it and exerted effort to get the goods from the establishments.
This results in losses on the part of drivers who only earn a certain percentage from their deliveries. The petition, which now has 3,739 signatures, seeks to stop customers from abusing the function, unmindful of the impact their decision costs for the riders.
“Many customers would just cancel their booking without giving consideration to the riders who put out their effort to stand in long lines and shell out their own money just to buy the customer’s order,” the petition said.
Netizen Jay Mark Pascual Bercasio was the latest to share an incident he witnessed after a distraught Grab Food rider told him the story of how he used the money for his child’s milk and diapers to purchase an order for a customer who cancelled because he got impatient that the delivery was taking too long.
Cristy Jean Monta also experienced a similar scenario where a Grab Food driver was pleading for the customer to take his order after the customer cancelled on him while he was on his way to the delivery area.
Perhaps, removing the Cancel Option is the more considerate choice to protect GrabFood drivers from abuse? Many netizens seem to think so. (ANGEL ONG)
