Love at the First Cheesy Bite: Romantic Baboy @ Mezza 2
Food Evolution Ph has been quite fortunate to be invited to the dry run of Romantic Baboy’s 36th branch at the SMDC Mezza 2 Strip in Quezon City and we must say that the hype is definitely well deserved. Here’s the quick lowdown on the samgyupsal experience that had us feeling full until the next day.
Food and Service
There are many unlimited samgyupsal restaurants proliferating in the country because of the Korean food craze but Romantic Baboy’s signature flavors are evident with each slice of beef and pork served by the staff.
Members of the Poon family, who operate the branch, were also on hand to make sure that no diner is left unattended and the personal touch is something that one can expect from the new establishment.
Meats are well seasoned and unli cheese sauce and cream cheese create the perfect compliment to the meat wrap that Filipinos have come to love and it comes at an affordable price of only P499. Our favorite among the side dishes was the kimchi, which tasted like something you would get from a typical resto in Seoul.
Additional orders of your favorite beverages like soju are also available if you check the menu.
Romantic Baboy in Mezza 2 is smaller than most branches of the franchise with only 12 tables but the advantage of eating at a small branch gives you the classic feels of entering a busy Korean restaurant when everyone bonds over Kpop music and OSTs to level up and the camaraderie from cooking your own meat.
Its perfect for a casual date, a food trip or a barkada get together.
If you’re a frequent visitor of UERM Hospital, getting there is quite easy. Its right across the hospital and located in the ground floor of SMDC Mezza II Residences. You can’t miss it
Good news for those who want to sample the cheesy samgyupsal craze at half the price. For the first 100 customers for the soft opening on July 23-24 get 50% off their bill. The grand opening will be on July 25.
The store opens from 11 am -12 am for the soft opening while it goes full blast with an 11 am – 1 am sched starting the 25th.
Tables are made available on a first come, first served basis though, so better act fast. (ANGEL ONG)
