Masterchef’s George Calombaris fired from Aussie Tourism campaign
Masterchef Australia’s George Calombaris is in hot water after he was asked by Fair Work Australia Ombudsman to pay a $200,000 “contrition payment” for underpaying his staff by as much as $7.8 million in the last six years.
More than the penalties and the bad press however, the Masterchef judge has also been kicked out of WA Tourism’s wine and food campaign.
Effective immediately, all promotions and advertisements featuring the Masterchef judge will be pulled out of different platforms where the ads were scheduled to air, reported The Guardian.
Different sectors are calling the penalty inadequate and want the celebrity to be booted out of the popular cooking show as well. Calombaris has pleaded that the underpayment of his employees was not deliberate.
