Typhoon Falcon leaves PH with minimal damage to farm sector

Typhoon Falcon, the strongest typhoon to hit the country so far this year amid the occurence of El Niño, already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), leaving only minimal damage to the agriculture sector.

Based on the latest report of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Operations Center, Typhoon Falcon only incurred P4.15 million worth of damages in rice areas in the municipalities of Valladolid and San Enrique in the province of Negros Occidental (Region VI).
Meanwhile, only 665 hectares of farms were damaged, while there are 433 farmers who were affected by the typhoon.

DA-DRRM even said that while Typhoon Falcon was indeed strong, it became somehow beneficial to agricultural crops in Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley, who have been suffering

“The DA-DRRM Operations Center will continue to monitor and provide further updates about the typhoon,” the agency said.
