Do not waste food, Chef Jam issues appeal to DA and local farmers alike
Chef Jam Melchor is proving himself to be strong advocate for local agriculture and against food waste as he continues to post about issues involving farmers having no choice but to dispose of their produce because transportation costs them more than what they can actually profit from their harvest.
Chef Jam shone the spotlight on the farmers of La Trinidad, Benguet, who had to dispose of sacks of good cucumber at a local trading post.
The chef appealed to the Department of Agriculture for support and a sustainable solution to the problem, while at the same time made the same appeal to farmers not to rely on social media to gain sympathy to spur action on their plight.
“I will keep on saying this over and over again, in a hungry country katulad ng Pilipinas, WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO WASTE FOOD. “ Chef Jam said.
