MinDA chief to negotiate for special cargo price on fruits
Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Chief Emmanuel Piñol said he will negotiate with airline companies to grant special cargo price on fruits coming from Davao.
This was after MinDA saw the success of its first-ever fruit festival recently held in Baguio.
“The MinDA will negotiate with the airline companies for a cargo allocation in their Davao-Manila, Davao-Clark or even Davao-Cebu or Davao-Iloilo routes for the shipment of products from Mindanao,” Piñol said.
“The airlines will also be asked for a special cargo price as part of their support for the development of Mindanao,” he added.
The fruits that would be bought from Mindanao to different parts of Luzon would include perishable items like rambutan, lanzones, marang, mangosteen, pineapple, and papaya.
Meanwhile, Piñol said other fruits like pomelo, durian, and banana could be transported by trucks from Mindanao which takes three days.
“MinDA is validating the volume of fruit production from Mindanao as it intends to forge trading arrangements with other local government units in Luzon and the Visayas,” Piñol further said.
