Netizen calls out the Daily Show for insensitive remark over sliced food
A woman suffering from tourette’s syndrome recently called out the Daily Show and went viral for explaining why there was a market for pre sliced products like fruits and vegetables. The Daily Show recently shared a tweet and implied that the production of these items were ridiculous and dismissed it as a frivolity.
The Twitter user account for the Disability Enthusiast called out the show for not properly doing their research for the market of such products. She explained that as a person suffering from tourette’s syndrome, her twitch makes it dangerous to handle objects like knives, much less slice fruits or vegetables with it. There are other people suffering from disabilities that make such products helpful.
She asked the show to be more responsible in using their huge platform and consult with disabled activists before posting generalizations online. The post has been shared almost 20,000 times, reciving close to 6,000 reactions.
Hi, I have tourette’s syndrome. My tics mean that knives are extremely dangerous for me to use. There are also many, many disabilities that can make eating uncut oranges and other fruit very difficult or impossible. This makes preprepared fruit an accessibility feature. https://t.co/85z8FsgyWV
