Balut is the ‘star’ of Toronto Pinoy Streetfood Festival
As Toronto gears for the Taste of Manila, the biggest Pinoy streetfood festival in Canada, there is one familiar streefood that Pinoys are craving. However, they are having an opposite effect on Canadians who are trying it out for the first time.
This Pinoy delicacy is none other than balut, a developing bird embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell. A Pinoy-Canadian even demonstrated the proper way of eating balut to the host but there were a lot of foodies who opted out of the experience.
Others are having a great time sampling other streefood like isaw, betamax, adidas and the like, introducing Pinoy favorites to the Canadian palette.
The Taste of Toronto took place at Bathurst Street on the corner of Wilson Avenue on August 18 to great success.
