Cebuanos introduce edible straws
In response to the 6 billion straws that add to plastic polluting our oceans yearly, enterprising and innovative Cebuanos have come up with a convenient alternative to cut the waste and have something tasty after sipping that delicious drink.
A company called Eat Your Straw is now selling straws made of rice flour, cassava and starch to provide an alternative to plastic straws. The straws can be eaten by the drinker after use or it can be a tasty snack for marine life if ever it reaches the oceans.
The straws can be used for 6 hours in cold drinks and four hours for hot drinks. This means that this can be perfect for your frappe or milk tea without disintegrating prematurely like typical biodegradeable straws.
Plus, its super colourful, making it attractive and useful at the same time.
