MinDA Fruits Festival goes to Cebu Sept 28-29
In a bid to further expand the reach of Mindanao produce, particularly fruits, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has landed another city for its fruit festival and this time it will be in Visayas.
After four successful staging in Northern Luzon the MinDA Fruits Festival is ready to make its mark in Cebu on Sept. 28 and 29.
“Secretary Michael Dino, Presidential Asst. for Visayas, last night said he will host the Cebu staging of the MinDA Fruits Festival to give Cebuanos access to fresh fruits from Mindanao at lower prices.” MinDA chairman Manny Piñol said.
While the date has already been set, Sec. Dino is yet to choose the ideal location to set the fruit fest up. But he will be able to name the place next week, said Piñol.
The Fruits Festival is a project of MinDA to link Mindanao’s fruit farmers with consumers in Luzon and the Visayas.
The project is aimed at providing farmers access to the market to motivate them to produce more while giving consumers access to fruits at lower prices. MinDA aims to institutionalize the link between the farmers and consumers.
