Coca Cola takes first step in recycling PET bottles
Coca Cola has been embarking on a new project to recycle old PET bottles. During the 34th International Coastal Cleanup, Facebook page Gadget addict shared what the company brought to the event.
The company introduced a machine that can break down PET bottles into small particles that can be used as raw materials to produce items like chairs simply by heating and pressing the particles into a mould.
The machine was simple to operate. A person pedals to fire it up and PET bottles are thrown into the machine to be processed and crushed into particles.
“Apparently they’re working on a recycling facility to automate this process – from collecting, sorting, cleaning and finally breaking down into flakes or pellets,” the post ended.
Hopefully this works as a large scale operation to address the world’s growing problem with plastic pollution.
