PH agricultural trade amounts to US$5.09-B
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said the total agricultural trade of the Philippines for the second quarter of 2019 amounted to US$5.09 billion, slightly slipping by 0.01 percent compared with the US$5.091 billion total agricultural trade in the same period of 2018.
During the period, the total export revenue for all commodities, amounting to US$17.80 billion, rose by 1.8 percent from the US$17.49 billion.
Similarly, agricultural export reflected an increase of 10.5 percent n the second quarter, while its total share to the country’s total export went up by 0.8 percentage point during the period.
Meanwhile, the total agricultural import bills, valued at US$28.32 billion in the second quarter of 2019, declined by 6.1 percent from its value of US$30.16 billion in the same period of 2018.
Agricultural import expenditures of US$3.35 billion in the second quarter of 2019, likewise, posted a 4.7 percent decrease from the US$3.52 billion expenditures incurred in the same period of 2018.
The share of agricultural imports to total imports went up by 0.2 percentage point during the quarter.
