Puregoods guarantee products’ safety amid ASF
In light of recent news on certain processed pork products that tested positive for African Swine Fever (ASF), San Miguel Corp.’s (SMC) Purefoods-Hormel guarantees that its products are ASF free and safe to eat.
In a statement, the company said that Purefoods products are produced in company-controlled facilities and processing plants that have passed all stringent requirements of Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“The pork ingredients in Purefoods products come from farms that are strictly supervised by San Miguel Foods and observe the highest level of bio-security measures while the imported materials come from ASF-free countries. Moreover, all local pork ingredients in Purefoods processed meats are tested for ASF prior to use,” Purefoods said.
“Purefoods chilled products like hotdogs, Christmas hams and canned products like luncheon meats are cooked in high temperatures ensuring safety from harmful organisms,” it added.
The company then noted for the nth time that ASF does not affect humans and therefore does not pose any risk to human health. It is a viral disease impacting only pigs, not people.
