Small shrimps found thriving in Pasig River
It seems that ambitious Pasig River Rehabilitation Project is already bearing fruit after the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission announced that small shrimps locally known as hito have been found in the river.
The shrimps were found thriving in the river on October 6 and was announced by the commission via their Facebook account.
The Pasig River was awarded with the 2018 Asia River prize given during the 21st International Riversymposium in Sydney last year.
“PRRC and its partners’ river restoration and management efforts have effectively brought the Pasig River back to life. These efforts have included delivering quality projects, programs, activities, and advocacies in easement recovery, riverbank development, waste and water quality management, and public awareness,” the award-giving body said.
