DFA Sec shares tidbit about banana ketchup’s role in history

Many Filipinos consider UFC banana ketchup as a regular staple in their dining table to provide extra flavor to their fried meals.

However, as google celebrated the achievement of María Orosa, the Filipino scientist who invented banana ketchuop, DFA Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. shared a tidbit of information about banana ketchup and the role it played in history.

“When things got tough for Russians—no more communism where everyone was cared for—friends shipped containers of UFC banana ketchup. Taken by Russians as side dish like bagoong for us. Plenty of bananas; finicky Japanese market wanted perfect shape & no blemish on banana skins,” the DFA secretary said.

Wow, who knew that our banana ketchup was so popular in Russia, right?
