Lanao Towns to receive MinDA Morninga seeds
Mindanao Development Authority’s (MinDA) chairman, Manny Piñol announced that they will be giving out free Moringa seeds to the towns of Lanao during the water Supply and Livelihood Orientation Program in Iligan City.
According to Pipol, he has long been advocating for the planting of Malunggay even just in the back for the consumption of farm families and now he will be gifting packets of Moringa seeds to the municipal agriculturists of Lanao sel Sur.
“They will be asked to develop a seed production garden in their towns so that the planting of Moringa could be cascaded down to the villages,” said Piñol.
The nutritional value of Moringa has long been known along Visayans, hence the anecdote “”Bahala matumba ang balay, basta dili lang ang kamunggay,” which loosely translates to “It’s better for the house to toppledown as long as the malunggay tree is safe” Piñol explained.
The MinDA chairman also suggested to mix hammered Morninga leaves to animal feeds, especially those who are raising chicken and goats as it could improve growth and milk production.
