Vizcaya PLGU offers free training on organic farming
The local government of Nueva Vizcaya has offered to conduct a Training on Organic Farming (TOF) to help local farmers and hog raisers.
Engineer Jonem Gacad, TOF focal person, said the training which already benefited more than 120 farmers especially those affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) and the Rice Tarification Law (RTL).
“This training prioritizes hog raisers and rice farmers to alleviate their plight in the wake of the ASF and RTL concerns,” she said.
Gacad added that the TOF is also offered for agriculture-related businesses and industries, that suffered tremendous losses brought about by the ASF, RTL and weather disturbances.
According to Gacad, the TOF also provides entrepreneurship skills for free by the provincial government.
She further said that the TOF is carried out in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPAg), Provincial Cooperative Affairs Office (PCAO), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU).
“We are doing this on a monthly basis with the assistance of other agencies to provide training needs and skills of the participants,” Gacad said.
