McDonalds releases P500M to support employees amid COVID-19 challenges
As one of the boggest fastfood chains in the Philippines, McDonalds has announced that it is releasing P500 worth of support for employees and communities.
“Amidst any crisis, people must come first; we do what we can to ensure their welfare. We also have a responsibility to our partners to ensure that they can continue doing business and be able to care for their own people.
Finally, as a Filipino company, we have a duty to be a partner of the government in serving the public in whatever way we can,” Dr. George T. Yang, McDonald’s Philippines Chairman and Founder said.
Based on the announcement, restaurant crew and managers will be entitled to their salaries whether or not they are able to report for work during the time of the quarantine. A special premium pay package will be provided for crew and managers who are able to come to work in selected stores to sustain operations. The fun also covers the provision of care kits (face masks, alcohol, and vitamins) to ensure employee safety in the workplace as well as provisions for premium pay.
The fund also covers food to be donated to frontliners in the battle against COVID-19. (ANGEL ONG)
