Shakey’s closing down stores in Metro Manila during lockdown
Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc., the Philippines’ leading chained full-service restaurant, will shut down its stores in Metro Manila amid the Luzon-wide lockdown, which is taking place in order to control the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a letter to its guests, Shakey’s said due to the increasing restrictions on public transportation and more stringent local government quarantine implementations, its staff have experienced increasing difficulty in getting to work safely.
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close down our stores and delivery services in Metro Manila for the duration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine,” Shakey’s said.
“Despite our desire to continue providing necessary food to our communities, the greater good at this time is to fight COVID-19 by decreasing transmission risks and doing our part in flattening the curve. We are doing this to ensure the safety of our guests and the safety of our own staff,” it added.
