DA taps James Reid as new ambassador for food security
The Department of Agriculture (DA) has tapped actor and record producer James Reid as the new ambassador for food security.
“He volunteered for this,” DA Spokesperson Noel Reyes said when asked whose idea it was to tap Reid.
He also said that Reid’s initiative is free of charge.
On Tuesday, Reid joined Agriculture Secretary William Dar and DA officials during the opening of the Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month celebration and launch of the Plant, Plant Plant program at the DA Central Office, Quezon City.
As food security ambassador, Reid commits to inform the public on the main advocacies of the Department specifically its campaign on ensuring sustained food security, food accessibility and affordability; and encourage the youth and other advocates on the important roles of farmers and fishers, their hard work, and their valuable contributions to the country.
