DA’s research station in Agusan del Sur distributes ‘ready-to-plant’ veggies

The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur has began distributing ‘ready-to-plant’ vegetables as well as oyster mushroom fruiting bags even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement showed that DA’s Caraga Del Monte Lowland Rainfed Research Station (DMLRRS) recently distributed ready to plant vegetables including 58 squash, 58 kangkong, 200 string beans, 200 oyster mushroom fruiting bags to the residents of Barangay Del Monte where the station is located.

“The distribution is in coordination with the Barangay Local Government Unit. To manage the influx of interested residents the Barangay Council is tasked to distribute the planting materials in a house to house basis,” said DMLRRS OIC-Chief Catherine Juyno.

The station is now preparing additional oyster mushroom fruiting bags for the second batch of the distribution, the statement said.

Right now, the DMLRRS is continuously producing planting materials for distribution and the planting of various vegetables that are soon to be distributed in the nearby towns.

The DA research stations in Talacogon and Trento, Agusan del Sur have also been conducting mushroom related training to farmers, agriculture extension workers, agri-entrepreneurs, and academe.
